The Weaver's Cottage

The Weaver’s Cottage is a tiny, pretty, terraced property that was built around 1780. It has many original features including flag stoned floors, leaded windows and narrow steep staircase.

Here you can experience at first hand a little of what life was like for a cottage worker over two hundred years ago, but without deprivation - we have discreetly added electricity, central heating and modern plumbing.

The cottage is in South Street and there is on-street parking outside; however Castle Cary has a railway station, which means that this cottage is suitable for non-drivers or for those that want to leave the car at home.

Here you can enjoy the best of everything: a beautifully restored historic cottage a short stroll from the centre of a delightful old market town, yet with lovely country walks starting almost from your door. And for those groups booking more than one property there is a delightful mile long walk across (and down) fields to our other two properties and to the main house where you can buy free range eggs and fresh vegetables (in season).

A short walk from the cottage gives you views like this - you can see Glastonbury Tor in the distance.

Special conditions. This cottage is very small and will house two people comfortably, however there are two additional narrow beds in the attic making it possible for a couple of extra guests to stay. The stairs are very steep so the cottage is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, and we will not accept children under the age of five. Guests are asked only to smoke out of doors.
